Story

This page showcases an interactive story experiment I began in early 2011. It may not start as much but will hopefully develop into something actually playable. It's mostly an experiment in blending Inform7 with jQuery actions using the wonderful Parchment library and a bit of hacking.  If you're intrigued as to how any of it works, firstly check out Inform7 (the most fun programming language and environment to learn even if you're not a programmer, download it now. Honestly, it's brilliant) then get in touch.  Or just look at the source code (obviously, the source code of the interactions.js file contains abstract spoilers). The comments underneath are triggered by the game (it's my brother calling me a muppet of the two Daniels), as is a bit of music and some wasps.  That's pretty much as far as it goes for now.  Any feedback would be much appreciated.  I initial aimed to have this whole website navigatable via this sort of system but it turned out to be a worse idea than it seemed when it came to real content (another idea I toyed with was me updating all my blog posts and everything else in the system through it).  The interactive fiction part was releatively simple after I figured out how to do the hack.  Working out how to implement scrolling, on the other hand, was a lot harder so I ended up really simplifying the design. I'll write a blog post about all of this some time.
